Yes, there are going to be those days! Your son or daughter hits a road block on a new skill, someone is ill, you are having an appliance repaired and your lesson on how to change mixed fractions to decimals has been interrupted five times by the repairman, or your pupil is just in a "I don't feel like doing it" mood.
Go for a hike and take pictures, watch a show on the Discovery channel, grab a Wii remote and play a game with your kids...you are homeschooling! If you try to push through, it will only get worse. There is something to be said for knowing when to walk away and have fun. Take a break from the lessons, and do whatever it is that brings that stress levels down for everyone and enjoy it without guilt! Even in traditional classrooms, lessons "blow up", and teachers ditch the plan and wing it. (I remember throwing my hands up after one disastrous lesson with my sixth graders, telling them to grab a book, and we all went outside to sit under trees and read!) Give you and your child a break; it has nothing to do with you and your lesson you had planned. Just roll with it and be patient. The world will not come crashing down on you if today just isn't the day for formal lessons!
