Welcome back!
The start of a new year! The homeschool journey is not about learning; it's about the fun that you will have in your journey! Yes, learning happens each and every day, but the key emphasis in the lessons should be how enjoyable they are because the students' minds are then much more open and receptive to the facts, concepts, new skills, and the overall lesson that is being taught. Can you blame the kids? Would it be more fun to go to a lecture where the speaker is engaging and enthusiastic, or to a lecture where the speaker is monotonous and boring? There are so many ways to make our curriculum come alive...with projects, posters, you tube videos, notebooking, journals. With the internet, the possibilities are endless! See below for some great tips that will make the start of your year go smoothly!
Here are just some ideas for organizing your homeschooling space!
- Have a regular place for your student to work (desk, dining room table)
- Have a lesson plan book, an online form, or some way to keep track of what you are doing daily.
- Set up a regular schedule with your son/daughter that works for both of you. Do you/they like to get going early? Or sleep in, workout, and then start later?
- Try to keep to your schedule as much as possible. Kids work much better within boundaries.
- Having a printer and a good-sized white board is not essential, but good to have!
